EUROGIA’s fundamental purpose is to initiate the technological developments
that are fundamental to ensure a better management of fossil fuels, in order to
facilitate a rapid migration towards the hydrogen economy.

This will be achieved with the two following directions:
Security of supply : the reserves so far known are insufficient to satisfy
the world population needs until a few decades from now, when alternative energy
sources may become sustainable and perennial. Adding up new reserves is,
therefore, an essential element of the energy strategy and must be done under
strict safety and environmentally friendly processes.
Decarbonisation of the fossil energy chain during exploration, production,
conversion and use. An essential consequence for exploration is the migration
towards a wider use of natural gas, which allows a substantial CO2 reduction
(50%) during the conversion in secondary energy. Characterisation and economic
exploitation of natural gas are the second key component of the strategy. The
long-term objective is the migration towards the hydrogen economy, but while
hydrogen production technologies based on nuclear and renewable energy sources
become marketable and socially acceptable, hydrogen has to be produced from
fossil fuels. |
