Press Release: EUROGIA2020 – SET Plan Project Pitch Session

Brussels – BE, October 18, 2018 - EUROGIA2020  organised a project pitch session in Madrid on  October 17, 2018 under the auspices of CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial). This event brought together innovative ideas in 5 low carbon sectors (PV, CSP, Wind, Ocean and Geothermal) for EUROGIA2020 – SET Plan Joint Project Call which was launched on September 1, 2018. 

More than 85 participants from across EUREKA Member Countries attended the event and 11 project ideas in 5 low carbon sectors were presented during the pitching session.

The event kicked off with the welcome speech of Mr Luis Gonzalez Souto, the High Level Representative of Spain to EUREKA. He welcomed the audience to the CDTI premises in Madrid and presented the active involvement of Spain in EUREKA and EUROGIA2020. 

EUROGIA2020 Chairman and ENERJISA Distribution Companies General Manager, Mr Murat Pinar introduced the future challenges that the energy sector will encounter and put emphasis on human aspect and future generations. 

EUROGIA2020 – SET Plan Joint Call : Common objectives to achieve

 SET-Plan and EUROGIA2020, the EUREKA Cluster for energy, aim to accelerate the development and deployment of low-carbon technologies. Their common objective is to coordinate national research efforts and to help transnational energy technology projects access national funds. 

Submitting a transnational energy technology project is a challenge. EUROGIA2020 General Manager Gabriel Marquette presented how to build a successful EUROGIA2020 project and true partnerships within EUROGIA2020 -SET Plan Joint Call.

Funding Agency representatives from Germany, the Netherlands and Spain took the floor to introduce how their countries are involved in EUREKA. Encouraging support schemes in Germany and Spain and the broad network support that the Netherlands provides attracted the huge interest from the audience.

“Private investments are the leading sources for the development of low carbon energy technologies.  Public –private partnership tools such as EUROGIA2020 will help SET Plan achieve its targets through their bottom-up, industry oriented approach.” said SET Plan Head of Sector, Jose Jimenez Mingo.  Following the speech of Jose Jimenez, SET Plan Implementation Plans in Solar PV and CSP were presented in details.

Project Pitches:  Paving the path to success

11 ideas were presented during the project pitches mostly in ocean and wind energy fields. Project pitching session was followed by 45 B2B Meetings to initiate the first dialogue between the participants.
